St. Matthew Island is an uninhabited, remote island in the Bering Sea in Alaska, 183 miles west-northwest of Nunivak Island. The entire island's natural scenery and wildlife is protected as it is part of the Bering Sea unit of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.
So today is the last Zodiac trip, but it is cold, foggy and the sea is rough. Landing is only on a pebbly beach and there is only a hill to climb while wearing muck boots.
Going to give this one the miss and as pennance stand on the open deck and take photographs.
I watch a nearby mountain drift in and out of the fog.
I just need King Kong to jump out now!
