Nome is the most famous gold rush town in Alaska—home of the last great gold stampede in the history of the American West. In the early 1900s, Nome drew people to its shores from all over the world.
But also know for the Iditarod race.
The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, more commonly known as The Iditarod (/aɪˈdɪtərɒd/), is an annual long-distance sled dog race run in early March. It travels from Anchorage to Nome, entirely within the US state of Alaska.
We just found it a frontier town.
